The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) is the premier professional organization in healthcare administrative management.  AAHAM's mission is to provide education, certification, networking, and advocacy for healthcare revenue cycle professionals.

The Maryland Chapter continues this mission at a local level through our continual education.

A message from our Chapter President

Dear Maryland AAHAM Members,

Our Annual Institute in Ocean City was a wonderful success!  Thank you to everyone who joined us in Ocean City.  See you in September for MD AAHAM AI.  The dates are September 11th-13th, 2012.

We are very excited to inform the entire Maryland AAHAM Chapter the following news:

We WON Chapter Excellence!!!!!

What does that mean you ask......

1st PLACE has been awarded to the MARYLAND Chapter of AAHAM for the Excellence in Pursuing the goals of the American Associantion of Healthcare Administrative Management, the Alan Tabas Division Chapters with 121 or more national members.

Aspects of Chapter Excellence are:

Numbers of hours of Education available to membership including Annual Institute.

Number of Board Meetings.

Communication to membership - email on hot topics and quarterly newsletter, The MD AAHAM Connection.

Community Activites - such as the Solider Drive, Cookies for Soliders, Donations to Kennedy Krieger Institue and Donations to support our own members in need.

MD AAHAM members speaking at other AAHAM Chapter meetings or at the National AAHAM Annual Institute.

MD AAHAM members published journal articles for the MD AAHAM journal.

Thank you to everyone involved in obtaining this very prestigious award.

In the MD AAHAM newsletter, we discuss topics related to the current Maryland legislature, the impact to Medical Assistance funding, as well as an update on the 3808 process.  The Board of Directors have picked up right where they left off last year.  Goals for the BOD include:

  • WebEx training Opportunities – for CPAM and CPAT and potentially future monthly meetings.
  • Job Postings (has returned) to the Website.
  • Chapter Excellence! - We WON!!!

Although winning Chapter Excellence is by no means the only way to gauge our success as a Chapter, it is our goal as a Board to make sure that we organize and communicate our amazing accomplishments as individuals and as a group to the National Chapter.  We have always been a well-educated, generous, and supportive team.  Now, we are creating a means to communicate and organize that information, thanks to Kristina Mori, CPAM.  If you know of something or have a thought about something that may be beneficial to our Chapter Excellence application, please contact Kristina at kpayne@cmhlink.org.  The Maryland Chapter of AAHAM is a unique Chapter.  We have the most National members in the country and the highest number of CPAMs.

So much to do and so little time – but please take the time to read up on what is happening with the MD AAHAM Connection.

Come out to the monthly meetings!  The next monthly meeting will be March 16th at Snyder's Willow Grove.  The agenda for this meeting will be coming soon!

If I do not already know you personally, please introduce yourself at any of our MD AAHAM functions.  We are always looking for additional volunteers and new ideas!  Please don’t hesitate to get involved!  If you are new to our organization, “Welcome to the Family!  We are glad to have you!”  I am proud to be your President!

Be Safe and See you at the Next Meeting!
