The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) is the premier professional organization in healthcare administrative management. AAHAM's mission is to provide education, certification, networking, and advocacy for healthcare revenue cycle professionals.
The Maryland Chapter continues this mission at a local level through our continual education.
A message from our Chapter President
Dear Maryland AAHAM Members,
Although the weather may have kicked this year off to a cold start, Maryland AAHAM has done no such thing. Your 2014 Board of Directors is honored to serve you in the upcoming year, and we are excited for what lies ahead. For those who were able to attend our Installation Dinner, we hope you had a wonderful time. It is amazing what a wonderful membership we are so fortunate to have, and I want each of you to know that this Board of Directors understands what a key role each of you play towards our success as a chapter. I am honored to have been elected as your President and am excited for what this year has in store. We have hit the ground running with our educational programs, annual institute, and certification committees to name a few. Although each of us knows what Maryland AAHAM is, it was not until I explored AAHAM on a national level that I truly understood what Maryland AAHAM is. We are the largest Chapter in the United States, paving the way for other chapters. We cannot and will not take this for granted. Our Chapter holds an Annual Institute with attendance of over 200 members for the last three years, eight educational monthly meetings a year, which have attendance of between 50-180 members per session. We hold CRCE study sessions that rivals the national scale and we will soon be holding CRCS study sessions not only to our Maryland Members free of charge, but to all National Members. We will not stop there. Our Board of Directors is committed to continue to be cutting edge with what we offer to our members and our communities.
Here are some highlights for what is in store for 2014!
Maryland AAHAM is committed to helping the environment. In an effort to further that mission we have eliminated the paper copies of presentations at our monthly meetings as well as upgrading our registration experience through the use of Constant Contact. Starting in March, presentations will be emailed for all pre-registered attendees prior to the meeting. Registration will be electronic through Constant Contact, just like what you use for our Annual Institute. If you have questions, please contact Kayla Walton, CRCE-I, at KWalton@cmhlink.org.
This year we will continue our green theme by sending our Maryland Connection quarterly newsletter out electronically as well as providing a flash drive for presentations at our 42nd Annual Institute.
Maryland AAHAM 42nd Annual Institute – September 9th to 11th, 2014:
The planning is under way, and this year’s AI is going to be better than ever! The theme Covering Your Bases in Healthcare focuses on Effectively Targeting all Angles of the Revenue Cycle. This year we welcome back Day Egusquiza, John Currier, CRCE, National AAHAM’s 1st Vice President. We are also honored to have Vicki DiTomoso, CRCE the National AAHAM President. Earn your CEU’s while enjoying one of a kind networking opportunities.
National Winter Updates:
During the Winter National Board of Directors Meeting, it was announced that Maryland AAHAM won a Membership Growth award for the increase we have seen in our membership at a national level. Maryland represents 412 national members out of 3000. Maryland AAHAM continues to strive to promote our mission through education, certification, and networking and it is because of our members that we consistently achieve greatness.
Legislative Day – April 23rd to 24th
Join AAHAM in Legislative Day and represent the Maryland Chapter. This experience is something each of us should do at least once, and chances are you will want to go again. Last year we saw the changes requested to the TCPA gain support. This year we will be at it again at the beautiful Washington, DC. For more information visit: National AAHAM Legislative Day
Monthly Educational Sessions:
Don’t miss out on CEU’s! The upcoming educational sessions are as follows: March 21st Spring Third Party Payer meeting and April 18th Open Topic meeting. Please note the date change for Aprils Meeting. All remaining monthly meetings will be held at Snyder’s Willow Grove. If you have any suggestions for topics please contact Kayla Walton at KWalton@cmhlink.org.
Be Safe and See you at the Next Meeting!
